Catching Up
Let's chat about Shep's name, lazy girl skincare, my new favorite tee, amazon necklace and so much more...
First of all, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all your kind messages over the past couple of weeks. I cannot believe I am a mom! Shep’s mom! The love I feel in my heart, my home and through my phone from all of you is completely overwhelming. As you now know, it was a journey to get here and I am just so thrilled we’ve arrived! Finally Chapter 1! I have to add that I know no one is perfect but he is pretty damn close. He’s perfect to us!
Shepard Ray is named after my grandfather, Solomon and Ben’s cousin Julie Rae. Two people we admired and loved deeply.
My poppy Sol was one of a kind! He was a Jersey boy, a marine, a businessman but most importantly, a husband for 70 years, a dad to 4, a grandfather to 8 and in his lifetime a great grandfather to 3. He was tough, much softer in his older age, and someone who put a lot of emphasis on education, hard work, never settling, enjoying life and above all, the importance of family. He loved the arts, travel, golf, chocolate ice cream (and you’ll see a common trend here), his family. I think about my poppy often but especially when Ben and I travel to a new place alternating taking photos of each other in front of important historical landmarks. I think of all my grandparents photos albums that look just like this and know he is so proud of my hard work, zest for life and travel, my love for my partner and my determination to grow our family one way or another. I know Shep will make him proud too!
Sol was a natural leader, not dissimilar from a Shepherd and so was his middle names namesake - Ben’s cousin Julie Rae.
Julie Rae was a consummate leader, whether amongst her family, friends, or leading a theater production as a stage manager. She, like Sol was also obsessed with the arts. She always brought people together, and made you feel special, qualities I know our boy will carry on.
l hope Shep is able to learn from us all we learned from Sol and Julie Rae. They were two of the greats!
And now a sharp left turn into…
Lazy Girl Skincare
Step 1: either Glycerin Cleanser or Ursa Major Face Wipes
Step 2: rub a small amount of The Super Blend Pressed Serum (MALLY15) in your hands and press into skin
Et voilà!
I also have to mention… I have been doing this two step routine for the past few nights and I am in big trouble. It was gifted to me and it’s not cheap but my skin has truly never felt smoother or tighter. Crap! What do I do now?
